CWL Objectives

- The first objective of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Women's League is to achieve individual and collective spiritual development.  We invite each lady of Our Lady of Peace Parish, Meadow Lake,of St. Jude Parish, Green Lake, and of Our Lady of the Smile Parish, Waterhen First Nations to join us to enhance her spiritual development.

- The second objective of the Our Lady of Peace Catholic Women's League is to promote the teachings of the Catholic Church.  The CWL is recognized by the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops as an organization promoting Catholic teaching.  We invite the ladies (16 yrs. of age and older) of Our Lady of Peace Parish, St. Jude Parish, and Our Lady of the Smile Parish to join us to learn more about their Catholic faith.

- The third objective of the Catholic Women’s League of Canada is to exemplify the Christian Ideal in home and family life.  We welcome all ladies of our parishes to work together for home and family.  Contact Lorraine at 306-236-3188 evenings or weekends for more information or to join our sisterhood.

- The fourth objective of the Catholic Women's League of Canada is to protect the sanctity of Human life. We welcome all ladies of our parishes to work with the CWL through Pro-life organizations and interested individuals to respect and protect human life from conception to natural death.  A recent endeavor of the CWL is to raise their voices against physician-assisted suicide.

- The fifth objective of the CWL is to enhance the role of women in Church and society. THe CWL encourages women to take leadership positions in the church through liturgical ministry (Lector, Eucharistic Minister, Music, etc.). And through parish ministry (Pastoral Council, Finance Council, etc), and in society as leaders of city council, members of parliament,  members of the Legislative Assembly etc, and  in local groups as leaders of Metis and Aboriginal organizations, hospital auxiliaries, etc. Anywhere where Christian values are needed in the leadership. The National CWL has a scholarship to encourage women to train for leadership positions in our society.

- The sixth objective of the CWL is to recognize the human dignity of all people everywhere.  We all wish to live with dignity and to be treated respectfully whether we are immigrant, visitor, or long time resident, we are all children of God.

- The seventh objective of the Catholic Women's League is to uphold and defend Christian education and values in the modern world. Worldly values include wealth, power, pleasure, revenge, fame, vanity and status. They promote jealousies, resentments, and conflicts among people. The values taught in the bible are often the opposite of worldly values: kindness and respect for all people, humility, honesty, generosity, self-control, and forgiveness.  Christian values promote peace and good will among people.

- The eighth objective of the Catholic Women's League is to contribute to the understanding and growth of religious freedom, social justice, peace, and harmony. The Catholic Women's League works on its own and partners with the Canadian Catholic Organization for development and peace to work towards these ideals.

Prayer Intentions:

- For the members of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Women's League, that each member may exemplify the Christian ideal in her home and family, we pray to the Lord.

- We pray for the members of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Women’s League Council, that each member will share her gifts and talents by saying “Yes” when asked to assume a leadership role in our parish CWL council. We pray to the Lord.

- For all ladies of Our Lady of Peace, St. Jude, and Our Lady of the Smile parishes, that they be willing to investigate the abundant resources and the loving sisterhood offered by the Catholic Women's League of Canada, We pray to the Lord.

- For the dignity of all from conception to natural death, for CWL help for those considering abortion so that they see an alternative to abortion, and for hospice action on the part of CWL members so that those who are struggling with dying always have someone to hold them physically and in prayer.  We pray to the Lord.

- For courage and strength for CWL members to take on leadership roles in our church and society. We pray to the Lord.
